It’s Tuesday!

I have decided to give you all a bit more of a challenge.

At the end of each post, you will find a list of articles that either use the word or are related to the word in some way.

TUESDAY’S WORD:

So, you know that sound a balloon makes when you let the air out of it?

“de-fleeeeeeehhhhhh…”

(Ok, so it doesn’t sound like that.)

When you deflate a balloon, it sounds more like this:

“shshshshshshshssssssss….”

And when you feel deflated, it’s sort of like this:

_(._.)_

And when you hear about deflation, it usually has something to do with the economy like this:

TUESDAY’S WORD is:

deflate(verb)-to let the air or gas out of;

to make someone feel disappointed or a loss of confidence;

(economy)-an overall reduction in price levels.

EXAMPLE SENTENCES:

Please deflate the beach balls when you are finished playing.

The tire deflated when I ran over a nail.

He was completely deflated when he discovered that his girlfriend was lying to him.

deflation(noun)-the act of deflating;

(economy) a state of general price reduction in an economy.

EXAMPLE SENTENCES:

The Japanese economy has been suffering from deflation for many years.

According to an article in the BBC, “…convincing companies to spend is a key part of Mr Abe’s plan to pull the country out of deflation.”
